FACE YOUR FEARS

We, humans project our fears onto each other unconsciously, we forget that our destinies are different and we dismiss that our desires and dreams are poles apart. Yet we seek validation for our everyday choices and we need to feel like we belong. Some of us are ready to give up what truly makes us happy so we can be like everyone else.

"Always do what you are afraid to do." - Ralph Waldo Emerson -

Why do we project fear onto each other? I think it is mainly because we are scared of the unknown; we worry about being judged as we might stand out from the crowd. But, the future cannot be predicted, we make our paths as we walk. Not everything is pre-written as we design our future in our present. We have the power as long as we choose what we want.

We will always be judged for something, no matter who we are. We single out people for being different, and that difference could be anything – it’s a human failing. If someone has more than another person it’s almost certainly because they worked harder, believed and never gave up, whereas the other person thought it was impossible.

They are two types of people in the world; the ones who think for themselves and make decisions in order to lead their life in happiness, and the ones who are on the boat of life, not really knowing where they are heading and happy to just go along with whatever comes next. It's a personal choice.

It is important to take a leap of faith and push for change; we often don’t understand why someone would make a decision that seems so crazy, knowing that we would never take that risk.

Like a sudden change of direction, which often means starting from scratch, fighting old habits and the financial struggle for a few years.

We shouldn't project our own fears onto people who are trying to realise their dreams, especially if they know the risks and are willing to take a chance.

"My 'fear' is my substance, and probably the best part of me." - Franz Kaftka -

It’s alright to be your own person and make choices that suit you; it’s your right to choose a life that confirms your aspirations and dreams. You don’t have to be like everyone else, we are all different.

Think of it this way: all the wires in your brain are made of different colors; your colors might be blue and green, so you will need to make different choices in order to find happiness.

It is most likely that your friends and family have different colors in mind, so your choices and aspirations will be different. However it doesn't mean you can’t enjoy each other’s company, you will simply make dissimilar choices.

When you are telling someone about your plans to do something completely out of the ordinary, don’t absorb their discouragement, this is only what they would feel if they were in your shoes, but they are not wired like you.

Understand that some people are not courageous enough to take a leap of faith into the unknown as it is frightening.

"Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. The fearful are caught as often as the bold." - Helen Keller -

Some people think they aren't worthy or might fail, but they could succeed if they believed. This doesn't make them any better or worse than you, they just choose to stay within their comfort zone which is safe and easy, perfectly understandable. However, some of us want more out of life so we walk through doors not certain where they will lead and we are willing to believe in the impossible. It isn't always easy given the lack of support in some cases but never give up, keep walking, alone if must be.

Life created diversity, so let’s recognise it! Let’s set each other free to be whom we want to be. Society doesn’t dictate who we are, we don’t have to fit any mould but our own, and as life goes on, every day is a new chance to be happy. So find your colors and don’t fear to be you.

Fear is the only barrier to success and happiness; you must be willing to face it in order to find what you seek.

LOVE WHO YOU ARE AND BELIEVE YOU CAN.

FAMILY

Having issues with your family? Feeling misunderstood? Well, the good news is you're not alone; these problems affect millions of people globally. Dysfunctional families are a problem that keeps repeating through history and the result is broken and lost people everywhere.

I believe the answer to family issues is not to focus on the importance of blood ties as they simply mean you're related, related by physical appearance and genetics. The real ties that will keep you united are the love and respect you have for each other - family should be a synonym for LOVE. Without unconditional love for each other you cannot be a true family - you are simply coexisting, tolerating each other and keeping the peace.

You can read many disturbing stories online of people pouring their hearts out in the hope that someone can offer comfort. The repeating theme is unloving parents and siblings, but there is hope, as happy families with loving and balanced parents do exist. Society needs to focus on these people as raising balanced and loving children is crucial for our future. We must stop making broken children, some will survive their traumatic childhood and prosper, but others will have a lifetime of sadness and mental distress affecting everyone around them.

"All parents damage their children. It cannot be helped. Youth, like pristine glass, absorbs the prints of its handlers. Some parents smudge, others crack, a few shatter childhoods completely into jagged little pieces, beyond repair." - Mitch Albom -

Someone that I love dearly, once said: “They are two types of families: loving or broken, whether you get one or the other is pure luck".

No one knows how this randomness works, but we should understand one thing, it isn’t because you're related that you'll automatically understand and accept one another. You are a unique person with your own aspirations and dreams; it's your parents' obligation to teach you values, discipline, respect and love, so that in turn you can affect others in a positive way.

"The bond that links your true family is not of blood, but of respect and joy in each other's life." - Richard Bach

We're all unique with different aspirations for our lives and different ideas about happiness. The only way to avoid arguments is to accept that we are all different, and to refrain from saying hurtful things. We should respect that everyone will make decisions according to their life choices, and we should LOVE each other unconditionally. It’s impossible to be a family without love, let alone a happy one.

Children learn most things from their parents, they start life as a blank canvas eager to learn and achieve. This is where most of the problems start; too many parents neglect their duty towards their children and forget to give them the most valuable gifts of all – LOVE and good values.

They are so many possible ways a family can fall apart. A lack of love, a lack of inter-generational, empathy, a rejection of traditions or faith. Some families have poor moral values, expectations and wealth, and others are dysfunctional with responsibility, casually blame each other, or worse, casually abuse each other with words and violence. Often, there is a lack of respect for each other's lifestyle choices whether that be sexual orientation or anything else.

For the most part our parents have done their best, even if many have done a shocking job. It was perhaps the best they could do. We all think they could have done more simply by saying – “sorry”, or – “I love you”, but what has been done is now gone and cannot be undone.

If we take a step back into the past, we all know that our parents also had parents and it is most certain that somehow, they have repeated history. If a person was abused by their parents then they in turn will view that behaviour as acceptable, unless they're strong enough to break the cycle and start a new one based on happiness and LOVE.

It's the same for parents who cannot express their love, some can't even say “I love you”. They probably never heard it from their parents, so they don’t know how important it is, or how it even feels. An empty “I love you” is worth nothing, the weight of emotion must come with the words.

If you’re not on great terms with your family, then a distant relationship might be a good option. It's not selfish to keep yourself sane and it might help you deal with the situation. Once you have exhausted all your options, doing nothing is the best answer. Avoid conflict and stay happy. Remember, you are not responsible for your family’s reckless choices in life. We are all responsible for our own happiness and our own actions and mistakes. Be happy with your life without seeking approval. You can love your family without being constantly a part of their lives, especially if they bring you anger and sadness. They may lead a successful life or a chaotic one, but whichever it is, life will teach them important lessons along the way - wish them well and try not to judge them.

Live the life you want. Time is magical and can heal past wounds so give it time. Don’t poke the fire while it's still burning.

I dedicate this post my beautiful friend of 17 years and my wonderful fiancé. They have both proven that it isn’t blood ties that makes you family but the love and respect you have for each other. Unconditional love, support, forgiveness and an unrelenting commitment to make it work.

LOVE IS A TWO WAY STREET; IT MUST FLOW NATURALLY BETWEEN TWO PEOPLE, AS JUST ONE WAY IS SIMPLY HOPELESS.

LUCKY LUCK

“You are so lucky!” - I hear this all the time. Are you lucky or, is it more about making your own luck?

The only time people are lucky is when they win something like the lottery or a competition. Even then they have made their luck; after all you have to be in it to win it. So, they tried their luck and they got lucky!

" The best luck of all is the luck you make for yourself". - Douglas MacArthur -

People that are rich and famous have also made their own luck. They've put themselves out there, networked to the right people, worked hard, risked everything and persevered to realise what they visualised in their dreams. We call them lucky but it isn't luck!

Who is the luckiest out of these two? Peter, who is walking with his head down consumed by his own thoughts; or Frank, who is walking with a clear mind and aware of his surroundings.

The scene: Some money is lying on the pavement. Peter walks right past it and misses out on a little extra cash from our friend luck, but Frank sees it and picks it up. Regrettably for Peter he could say “I’m so unlucky” as much as he likes, but he could have been as lucky as Frank but he decide to ignore the opportunity given to him.

There is one real truth about luck; it’s something you are born with. Someone will definitely start luckier than you but it doesn’t mean they’ll increase their luck any further.

"Diligence is the mother of good luck".
- Benjamin Franklin -

Many started poor but have become wealthy; others were born in a family that didn't value education so they've educated themselves; some people simply managed to turn sadness into happiness.

It’s not just luck but the burning desire to become lucky, to attract luck; you have to be on the “I’m lucky” frequency, as “I’m so unlucky” will be self-fulfilling.

Are you lucky? Whatever your answer, it will be true for you. BE LUCKY!
